I got calls on my cell phone from both 800-168-4861 and 800-219-7425. Today--in one day. I pick up and no one answers. How can I make the calls stop?

The company is called Federal Auto Protection: http://www.federalautoprotection.com/index-1.html
I had a long talk with them (acted like I was interested because pressing “2” has not worked for 2-months!) and then got the guys name I was talking to and his personal cell number. I talked to Bob Montgomery, 636-233-5183
I called and it is his cell number and the company he gave me was correct. Please feel free to call him and ask to be taken off the list. Make sure you tell him Chris set you!
Next time they call: Act like you're interested and get their info!

"Your “About” page doesn’t say much. Who are you? And why should I trust you?"

Marty. I updated the "About" section a little. I hope it's better. Let me know what you think.

Don't take the comments for fact. First, there needs to be a link between the number (800-168-4861) and the company selling the warranties (e.g., Vehicle Services, Inc.). Then, we have to establish a link between the telemarketing agency (VP Marketing) and the warranty company, who would be the client of the latter.

The above referenced post at whocalledus does not make any of these links. Although, I will say, this company does look rather suspicious. In addition, they are actively recruiting telemarketers selling extended warranties. It is very possible that these people are responsible; however, the data provided in the comments above does not prove that.

We, at the Telemarketing Lawsuit Depository, have a few IVR outbound companies we are looking into. An example of IVR outbound is simply the message you get when you answer the phone (press "1" to speak with a warranty representative).

VP Marketing isn't the only company advertising to the extended car warranty industry. In fact, there is one company in particular that is in VERY close proximity to the St. Louis, MO area, where many of the warranty companies are located. I don't want them to Google themselves and find there name here so I'm not going to post it, but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Anyways, if someone really wants to figure all of this out they could go to a suspected location and sit in the parking lot with a laptop and "sniff" the suspected company’s network. If the calls are going over VoIP you could capture them (Man-In-The-Middle) using CAIN, or a similar software. Even if the calls aren't going over VoIP, there is bound to be some data passed over the network that would link a telemarketing agency and a warranty company.

If the network is secured, you could use something like this: http://www.cacetech.com/products/airpcap_family.htm

It is a dongle that easily cracks secured networks. Then just sit there and catch anything going between the server and the individual computers (or stations).

This is all very illegal of course...and I'm not saying that anyone SHOULD do it; I'm just saying you COULD do it. I suppose it would even work if you targeted the warranty selling companies (Vehicle Services, Inc), that is if you were in the St. Louis, MO area. They are certainly receiving data from whomever they are using to place their calls.

It is very sad that I even thought of this idea and I am posting it on this website. It seems to me as if this should have been taken care of by now. Looks like the FTC and FCC need to step up their game. Don’t worry though, we have some legal, yet tricky, tactics we are using to get more information…and they are working…so stay tuned.

Here is some more info from whocalled.us/lookup/3095868760, it appears to be related to the 800-168-4861 number

"Here are the details of these douchebags:

Car Warranty Scam (two potential addresses):
VP Marketing
4501 Circle 75 Parkway
Suite #A-1225
Atlanta GA 30339

They also show a new address in their help wanted ads:
1820 Water Place Pkwy
Ste 255
Atlanta GA 30339
678-741-3188
678-741-3189

Credit Card Scam:
Versadebt Corp.
4501 Circle 75 Parkway
Suite #A-1225
Atlanta GA 30339
678-238-1300
678-238-1349
678-238-1351

Both companies are listed with the Georgia Department of State. Here is how you can lookup their information:
corp.sos.state.ga.us

You will find that the "Registered Agent" for VP Marketing is Kelly Lonas, 224 Ripple Creek Drive, Marietta GA 30060. The listed "Member/Manager" is James A. Schoenholz at the 4501 Circle 75 Parkway address.

Versadebt's Registered Agent is the same James A. Schoenholz at the 4501 Circle 75 Parkway address. There is one additional name listed for Versadebt. The listed CEO, CFO, and Secretary is named Marvin Cox, Jr. at the same address.

Here are some links to prove my research:
Job listings for VP Marketing:

Interesting reading I think. Hope this helps.....
