Telemarketing agencies are being WIDELY used by automobile warranty selling firms! Unfortunately for them, they are NOT abiding by federal or state laws. The phone calls usually begin with a recorded message saying:
“This is the third and final notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire…Press one to speak with a warranty specialist”
If you press one, your are usually transferred to a telemarketing agency who is under contract with the warranty firm. In general, the telemarketing agent takes your name, the make and model of your car, and the mileage then tells you that the factory warranty on your car has expired and asks if you would like to speak with a (Toyota, nissan, etc…) warranty speacialist.
They still have not told you their company’s name or the name of the company that they are representing. If you don’t act interested, you will most suredly never hear the name of the company who is trying to sell you a “car warranty”. In most cases, you won’t hear the name of the company until you get to the point where you are about to purchase the warranty and you “need the name of the company for your records”.
If this has happened to you, and you want to help stop this annoyance, submit your evidence here!
To find out which federal laws they are breaking visit the TCPA page!
As evidence is submitted and filtered, I will post updates under the Car Warranty Category. Check back often or click the RSS Buttond at the top of the screen to subscribe to our feed! For the information we have so far, visit our Home Page.
