Evidence Collection

It is very important for visitors to understand what they should do when they receive these telemarketing phone calls.

The Telemarketers call from a variety of phone numbers. The current challenge is linking the phone numbers they are using now, to the phone numbers they have used in the past. The following instructions are specific to the car warranty telemarketing scam, however, they can be applied across the board to gather useful evidence about illegal telemarketers and their identities.

  1. Press one (1) to speak with a “warranty specialist”
  2. Give them the following information:
    • 2007 Honda Accord LX Sedan (V6, if they ask)
    • Mileage = 54,576
    • VIN Number 1HGCM66397A005192
  3. Alternatively, you can give them a fake make/model and mileage and then tell them you are not near your car to give them a VIN. Although, you must continue to act very interested.
  4. The telemarketer will transfer you to the warranty salesperson
  5. Listen to the sales pitch, which includes the cost of the warranty, etc…
  6. When asked what method of payment you would like to choose, tell them you would like to use “electronic check”
  7. Ignorantly ask the following: “for my records, to whom do I make the check out?”
  8. They will respond with something like :”that it is an electronic check and therefore you do not actually write it, however for your records you can make the check out to …”
  9. Promptly hang up the phone. Do NOT give them ANY of your bank account or check information.

If you have read the information posted on this site than you know that the Telemarketing Lawsuit Depository has confirmed that three (3) of the phone numbers are connected with one (1) car warranty sales agency. These numbers are:
